The Indian Harmony

The last thing I should hear was that there were riots in Mulky, a small town in Mangalore (South Canara District=TULUNAD).

Mulky, the village were I was born has the Bappanadu Shri Durgaparameshwari Temple. As the Legend has it Bappa, a Byari (Muslim in Tulu language) accidentally hit The Lingas on the shores of Shambavi River hidden underneath water cover and the blood started oozing from the spot. On consulting the fellow local Hindus Shri Bappa was enlightened that the place was the Abode of Shri Durgaparmeshwari Devi, daughter of Lord Shiva according to the Folklore and Beliefs of Tulunad. Bappa to his credit erected a Temple of worship of the Goddess at the same spot keeping the Panch Lingas intact. Since then the place is come to be known as `Bappanadu’ and the first honorary prasadam of the annual Rath yatra is given to the heirs of Shri Bappa Byari every year.

There has always been Harmony between the Muslims and Hindus of the place. Different communities just added to the Colour and Ambiance of Mulky. The Riots are a black spot on the culture of the place which should be removed immediately through normal and logical behavior.

The basic necessities of man belonging to any community are the same. The manner in which he goes about achieving it gives him his identity. Its up to oneself to acknowledge others identity and live with them. The moment anyone’s identity is attacked he reacts and disturbs the harmony of society.

True Indians will keep the Harmony of Homeland in any condition and will Live And Let Live!

Kabbadi : The King of Sports!

Yesterday one witnessed a great competitive game of Kabbadi in the Doha Asian Games between the arch rivals India and Pakistan. The excitement, passion, pace and the fierce competition displayed was unmatched. Even a game of cricket between the two countries fails to generate such non-stop excitement.

The first half showed the brutal limits of the game of Kabbadi with each team showing excessive muscle power to pull down their opponents. Repetitive warnings were given to both the teams but their passion was unstoppable and the game went on under the safeguards of the referees. Pakistan team showed great skill in catching the Indian raiders in their half to the utter dismay of the champions. As a result at the end of first half India was trailing 9:11. The spectators added to the festive fare by shouting `Allah-hu-Akbar’, `India Jeetenge’ from respective sides. The Doha Asian Games had come Alive!

The second half saw the might of the Champions: India. India pounced back with great acrobatics to all out Pakistan for the first time to get a lona of additional 2 points. It was never looking back after that for the Indians who showed sheer command of the sport. The strategy, touch play, reflexes and flexibility displayed by the Indians was outstanding. Pakistan had their moments but Indians managed to get them all out for the second time in a row. The final score read 31:20 in favour of India.

But the Winner was the game of Kabbadi. The game had the strokes of intelligence and brilliance of the physical abilities of players on display. What else do you want for a Sport to be enjoyable? Kabbadi has it all. It is a competitive game for anyone, requiring all round physical and mental abilities of a person to succeed. So be Proud, Indians for giving the game of Kabbadi to the World. With China and Japan eager to master the sport and give stiff competition to India and Pakistan, it’s a matter of time that the world gets absorbed into this fascinating and great game.
